We named these earrings after Wangari Maathai, the Kenyan social, environmental and political activist who founded the Green Belt Movement. That movement campaigned for the planting of trees, environmental conservation and most of all, women’s rights.
In 2004 Wangari became the first African woman to receive the Nobel Peace Prize for her contribution to sustainable development and democracy. Thank goodness for all her hard work and who knows where we would be without it?!
These earrings are reminiscent of candle flames. Wangari was a bright light that never dimmed, so it was only fitting to name these bright circle dangle earrings with raw citrine stones after her. Circles are 3/4 of an inch and citrine stones are approximately 1/2 inch.
Citrine stones will range in shape and coloring. Your earrings will not have the exact same shape for each earrings-- makes them completely unique-- just like you!
